Contracting & Appointing

Get licensed, contracted, and ready to write business. Follow these steps in order.

Getting Started Checklist

1

Get Your State Insurance License

Register at your state's Department of Insurance. Most agents use Pearson VUE or PSI. Pass the Life & Health exam.

2

Register with NIPR

The National Insurance Producer Registry stores your license and allows you to add non-resident licenses. Go to nipr.com.

3

Complete AML Training

Anti-Money Laundering training is required for many carriers. Complete via LIMRA or your carrier portal before submitting contracting.

4

Get E&O Insurance

Errors & Omissions coverage is required by most carriers. SFG has preferred rates — ask your upline for the current provider.

5

Submit Contracting via SureLC

Log in to SureLC and submit contracting for each carrier. Your upline will approve your hierarchy.

6

Carrier Appointments

Each carrier will appoint you in your state after contracting. You'll receive a welcome email with your agent number when live.
